Metrics are the core data type in Hoopla. Read this article to understand what metrics are, how they work, and why they matter for tracking team performance.

Metrics measure your team’s performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) like calls made, closed sales, meetings booked, or revenue generated. They are the building blocks of Hoopla’s performance-tracking features.

Metrics are used in:

  • Leaderboard rankings – to compare team members’ performance
  • Newsflash triggers – to celebrate wins in real time
  • Channels – to display performance data on screens

Metrics are the only way to get data into Hoopla. You can store three types of values:

  1. User values performance data tied to individual team members (e.g., “John closed 5 deals”)
  2. Team values performance data tied to groups (e.g., “Sales Team West hit 120% of quota”)
  3. Generic identifier values data not tied to a specific user or team, such as website visits, free trial signups, or webinar registrations

Hoopla receives metric values through integrations with your CRM, sales platform, or other business systems. Once configured, these integrations automatically update metric values so your leaderboards and celebrations stay current.

  • Define your metrics Create metrics that track your key performance indicators, choose a data source and update frequency, and set goals for them.
  • Types of metric updates Compare the ways to keep Hoopla metrics current, from manual updates to Salesforce, spreadsheets, email or CSV uploads, the API, and Zapier.
  • Map data into Hoopla metrics Map a data set to a Hoopla metric, with a sync interval, time range and criteria, so its data shows on leaderboards and dashboards.
  • Update metric values manually Enter or edit metric values by hand as an admin or player, bulk update several users, and correct recent entries.
