Provision BrightSign devices for Displai

Set up a supported BrightSign player in BSN.cloud and pair it with Displai so you can manage its content from the Dashboard.

KB-01866 steps Last verified

Use this procedure when you need to set up BrightSign digital signage players to work with Displai. Once provisioned and paired, you can manage content deployment through the Displai Dashboard just as you would with native devices.

  1. Verify your device is supported

Confirm your BrightSign model appears in the supported device list:

    • LS424 Standard I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • HD224 Standard I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • HD1024 Expanded I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • XD234 Standard I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • XD1034 Expanded I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • XT244 Standard I/O Player (32GB microSD)
    • XT1144 Expanded I/O Player (32GB microSD)
  2. Create or sign in to your BSN.cloud account

Go to bsn.cloud and create a free account or download the Windows/Mac app. Displai does not currently allow modifying BrightSign device settings directly, so you must use BSN.cloud to configure your device.

  3. Define device settings in BSN.cloud

    a. From the Admin dropdown, choose Device Setup Library and create new device settings.

    b. In the Package Name field, enter a descriptive name (e.g., “Lobby Device Settings”).

    c. Set the Device Name (this is the default name devices will use in BSN.cloud).

    d. Optionally add a Device Description.

    e. Configure customization options:

    • Append Unit ID: Select this to append the serial number to the device name (useful for multiple devices)
    • Time Zone: Select the correct time zone—this is critical for Displai’s content scheduling to work correctly
    • Idle Screen Color: Skip this option; Displai provides its own idle screen

    f. For Device Type, select Partner Application and choose Displai from the list.

    g. Configure your network preferences (WiFi or wired).

    h. Click Add Setup File to Library to save.

  4. Upload device serial numbers

    a. In BSN.cloud, go to the Admin tab and select Device Provisioning.

    b. Click Add Device and enter the serial number of each player you want to register.

Alternative: Click Download Template to get an Excel file where you can add multiple serial numbers at once.

    c. Check the boxes for all added players and apply the setup file you created in step 3.

  5. Connect and power on your devices

    a. Insert the BrightSign SD card into each device.

    b. Connect the device to the internet using a wired connection.

    c. Power on the device. It will reboot several times during initial provisioning.

  6. Pair with Displai

    a. Once provisioning completes, the Displai pairing screen will display with an association code.

    b. Go to your Displai Dashboard and navigate to the Screens page.

    c. Click Add Screen.

    d. Enter the association code shown on the BrightSign device.

Your BrightSign device now appears in your Displai Dashboard under Screens. You can deploy content to it like any other screen in your account.

The pairing code doesn’t appear after provisioning:

  • Verify the device is connected to the internet via wired connection
  • Check that you applied the correct device setup file in BSN.cloud (step 3h)
  • Confirm “Displai” was selected as the Partner Application in Device Type settings
  • Contact BrightSign support via their help center for device-specific issues

Your device model isn’t on the supported list:

  • Escalate to Displai support to confirm compatibility
  • BrightSign players have a 1-year manufacturer warranty

Network configuration issues:

  • Edit network settings in BSN.cloud under Device Setup Library
  • Re-apply the updated setup file to the device in Device Provisioning
  • Power cycle the device to force it to download new settings

For BrightSign OS version compatibility, consult BrightSign’s OS release documentation.
