When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Your Screens page is the main view in your Displai Dashboard. Use this reference to understand how screens, locations, and filters work, and where to find settings for resolution, orientation, timezone, and scheduled updates.
Understanding your Screens page
Section titled “Understanding your Screens page”What is a screen?
Section titled “What is a screen?”A screen is any display with a player device connected via HDMI. This can be a TV, computer monitor, projector, or any device that receives HDMI input.
If you use an existing coax network with a modulator or headend, you can connect a single player to send the same stream to all TVs on that network. Displai treats this as one screen, so use clear naming when you activate it.
Each screen shows an Online/Offline indicator next to its name, showing whether the player is connected to the internet and communicating with Displai’s servers.
What is a location?
Section titled “What is a location?”Screens are grouped by locations. Each location should represent a physical premises with an address.
You start with one location. To add more, click the Add button in the upper right corner of the Screens page.
We recommend creating one location per physical site where you manage screens.
What is a filter?
Section titled “What is a filter?”Screen filters let you find specific screens based on criteria like timezone, resolution, or assigned playlist.
Once you filter to the screens you need, you can apply the same settings or actions—like assigning a playlist or changing orientation—to all of them at once.

Screen resolution
Section titled “Screen resolution”Choose between 720p and 1080p output. The default is 1080p. If your display only supports 720p or content isn’t appearing correctly, switch to 720p.
Timezone
Section titled “Timezone”Select the correct timezone so that Clock, Calendar, and Multizone apps display the right time and scheduled playlists play when you expect them. For example, if the player is in New York but set to “America/Los_Angeles,” times will be off by three hours.
Screen orientation
Section titled “Screen orientation”If you use a screen in portrait mode (vertical), choose the correct vertical orientation based on which side of the TV is the bottom. Click Publish to apply the rotation.
Tags work with Rules (an Enterprise feature) to make playlists behave differently on different screens based on conditions you set. This replaces calendar-based scheduling for advanced workflows.
For more details, see the Rules and Tags support article.
Device update blackout
Section titled “Device update blackout”Set a window of up to 21 hours during which the player will not restart to apply software updates. For example, if you operate 8am to 5pm, set a blackout from 7am to 6pm so updates only apply outside business hours.
