Display Google Drive Gallery on your screens

When to use this

Use this guide to connect a Google Drive folder to Displai and display images and videos from that folder on your screens. This is ideal for rotating visual content stored in Google Drive without manually uploading files to the platform.

Steps

1. Navigate to the Library page in your Displai Dashboard and click the Create button.
2. Select the Google Drive Gallery app from the available options.
3. Click Connect to Google, select your Google account, and click Continue.
4. Click Allow to grant Displai access to your Google Drive.
5. Click Select Google Drive Folder. A popup window will display folders you own or that are shared with you.
6. Click the folder you want to display, then click Select.
   • You can only display folders created by you. Files in folders shared with you will not appear due to Google API limitations.
7. Choose the Playback order (sequential or random) and Layout (single image, grid, etc.).
8. Set the Image duration (default is 20 seconds). Video duration is fixed and plays from start to finish.
9. Optionally, add a Headline and select its placement on screen.
10. Toggle Image - Zoom if you want images to zoom in during display.
11. Select Image scaling (Fill or Fit) and choose whether to mute videos.
12. Choose the Theme and set the Presentation duration (default is 120 seconds).
13. Add the Google Drive Gallery content to a new or existing playlist.
14. Publish the playlist to your screen.

Verify

Check your screen to confirm images and videos from the selected Google Drive folder are displaying in the chosen layout and order. If you added a headline, verify it appears in the correct placement.

If it doesn’t work

• Files not appearing: Confirm the folder is created by you, not just shared with you. Google API limitations prevent displaying files from shared folders.
• Empty folder message: If you double-click into a folder during selection, you may see “No items in this folder” even if files exist. This is expected behavior—select the folder with a single click instead.
• Unsupported file formats: Ensure your files are GIF (animated or still), JPG, PNG, SVG, BMP images, or WEBM, MOV, MP4 videos. Other formats will not display.
• Google authentication issues: If you are repeatedly prompted to sign in, disconnect and reconnect your Google account in the app settings.
