WiFi network requirements for ScreenRay devices

Check whether your Wi-Fi network will work with a ScreenRay before you connect, and what to use if it's hidden or WPA-Enterprise.

KB-0221 Last verified

Use this article to confirm whether your WiFi network is compatible with ScreenRay devices before attempting connection. This helps you plan the correct connection method—WiFi or Ethernet—for your deployment.

Your ScreenRay will connect to WiFi networks that meet all three requirements:

  1. Public SSID The network name appears in the WiFi list on your phone or laptop
  2. 2.4GHz or 5GHz band Routers matching IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards broadcast on these frequencies
  3. WEP or WPA Personal security Networks using WEP passcode, WPA-PSK, or WPA2-PSK authentication

If you can see the network name on your phone and connect with a password, the network likely meets these requirements.

ScreenRay devices cannot connect to:

  • Hidden networks (no public SSID) — The device cannot automatically reconnect after daily restarts
  • WPA-Enterprise networks (also called WPA-802.1X) — Common in enterprise and education environments

If your network is unsupported, connect your ScreenRay via Ethernet using a supported USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Enterprise and education environments may require additional network configuration steps.

Check with your network administrator to confirm:

  • Whether the network SSID is public
  • Which security protocol the network uses (WEP, WPA Personal, or WPA-Enterprise)

If you cannot determine compatibility after checking with your administrator, contact Displai support for guidance.
