How 2-Step Verification protects your Hoopla account

Understand how 2-Step Verification adds an SMS security code to your login, how Enterprise admins can enforce it, and where it's available.

This article explains how 2-Step Verification (also called two-factor authentication or 2FA) secures your Hoopla account by requiring a second form of identification beyond your password. This feature is available to all Hoopla users in the United States and Canada.

2-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring access to your phone in addition to your password. When enabled, you must provide a security code sent via SMS to your registered phone number each time you log in. This prevents unauthorized access even if someone learns your password.

When you activate 2-Step Verification in your Account settings, the system prompts you to provide a phone number with SMS capabilities the next time you log in. You confirm ownership of that phone number once, and on all future logins a security code is sent to your phone. You must enter this code to complete the login process.

If you administer a Hoopla Enterprise account, you can enable 2-Step Verification at the domain level. This automatically enforces 2-Step Verification for all users associated with your domain, helping protect your entire organization’s content and account data.

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner of the Hoopla dashboard.
  2. Select Account from the dropdown menu.
  3. Locate the 2-Step Verification setting in your account console.
  4. Follow the prompts to activate the feature and register your phone number.

2-Step Verification currently works only within the United States and Canada.
