Display news feed on your screens

Show news, blog updates or other RSS content on your screens with the News Feed app, from a standard source or a custom RSS feed.

KB-01368 steps Last verified

Use the News Feed application to display news, blog updates, or any RSS-based content on your screens. This feature is available to all Displai customers at no additional cost and works with both standard news sources and custom RSS feeds.

  1. From your Library, click the + icon to create a new presentation, then select Add News Feed.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for your presentation so you can find it later.
  3. Select your news source from the dropdown list:
    • For standard sources like CNN or BBC, choose the source directly
    • For custom feeds, select Custom RSS feed and paste the RSS feed URL
  4. Choose whether to display a single news item or rotate through multiple items.
  5. Select a theme from the available options to match your screen’s look and feel.
  6. Set the presentation duration (default is 240 seconds).
  7. Click Save and Done.
  8. Add the presentation to your playlist, assign the playlist to your desired screens, and click Publish to send it live.

Your news feed should appear on the assigned screens within a few minutes of publishing. Check that:

  • News items display and rotate at the configured interval
  • The selected theme renders correctly
  • Images appear if they are included in the RSS feed

Cannot find an RSS feed for your desired source:

  • Look for a link labeled “RSS” or “Feeds” on the website, or search for the RSS icon (an orange square with a broadcast symbol)
  • RSS feed URLs typically end in .rss or .xml and link directly to the feed (not the homepage)
  • If the website does not provide an RSS feed, use a service like FetchRSS or RSS.app to create one from social media streams or other sources

Images are not displaying:

  • Some websites include images in non-standard ways that may not render properly
  • Contact support if you believe images should appear but do not

Feed URL is not working:

  • Verify the URL is a direct link to an RSS feed, not a website homepage
  • Test the URL in a browser to confirm it returns XML or RSS content
  • Contact support if the feed URL is valid but still not displaying
