KB-01096 steps Last verified

Use the Calendar app to show upcoming events from your Google calendars on your screens. This is ideal for displaying meeting schedules, event listings, room bookings, or promotional calendars in lobbies, conference rooms, or public spaces.

The Calendar app is free and included with all plans.

  1. In your Library, click the + icon to create a new presentation, then click Add Calendar.

  2. Click Login with Google, select your Google Account, and allow Displai to access your Google Calendars.

  3. Select the specific Google Calendars you want to display events from.

  4. Configure your calendar presentation settings:

    Basic settings:

    • Name – Enter a name so you can find this presentation later.
    • Header description – Add a description that appears at the top of the calendar.
    • Header Image – Upload an image (like your logo) to display at the top-center of the header.
    • Show the current date & time – Toggle to display the current date and time in the top right corner.

    Display options:

    • Layout – Choose from three options:
      • Scroll – Shows events in a rotating list for the specified number of days and events.
      • Scroll and Expand – Highlights each event sequentially and displays its description and attachments.
      • Agenda – Organizes events into a weekly calendar view.
    • Number of events – Specify how many events to display at once.
    • Number of days – Specify how many days of events to display (maximum 5 days).
    • Theme – Choose a pre-defined theme to alter colors and fonts.

    Event filtering:

    • Filter by location – Show only events matching a specific location from the event description (useful for meeting rooms or event halls).
    • Hide location in events – Toggle to hide the location field on your presentation.

Advanced features (Scroll and Expand layout only):

    • Show attachments if present – Toggle to display any images attached to calendar events.
    • Expanded Mode, Image Layout – Adjust how attached images are displayed.
    • Pin current event(s) – Pin events that are currently happening (or pin upcoming events if none are active).
    • Confetti drop – Display falling confetti animation when an event includes #confetti in its description.
      • Control repetitions: #confetti/repeat=<number>
      • Control duration in seconds: #confetti/duration=<number>
      • Control delay between drops in seconds: #confetti/delay=<number>
      • Combine commands: #confetti/repeat=3/duration=5/delay=2

    Timing:

    • Event duration – How long (in seconds) each event displays before rotating to the next.
    • Presentation duration – How long (in seconds) this calendar stays on screen before moving to the next content in your playlist.
  5. Click Save and Done.

  6. Add the presentation to your playlist, assign the playlist to your screens, and click Publish.

Check your screen to confirm:

  • The selected Google Calendar events appear on the display.
  • Events rotate or expand according to your chosen layout.
  • Header text, images, and theme display as configured.

Events don’t appear:

  • Verify you granted Displai access to your Google Calendars during login.
  • Confirm you selected the correct calendar(s) in step 3.
  • Check that the calendar contains events within the number of days you specified.

Attachments don’t display:

  • Confirm you’re using the Scroll and Expand layout.
  • Toggle on Show attachments if present in the settings.

Confetti animation doesn’t work:

  • Ensure the event description includes the exact text #confetti (case-sensitive).
  • Verify you’re using the Scroll and Expand layout.
