Customize themes for Flyers and Menus
Build custom themes with your own fonts, colors, borders and background images for Flyers, Menus and other presentations.
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”Use the Theme Builder when you want to create a consistent visual identity across your Flyers, Menus, and other presentations. You can customize fonts, colors, background images, and borders to match your brand.
Create a new theme
Section titled “Create a new theme”- Open any saved presentation that supports themes (Flyer, Menu, Video, Newsfeed, Clock, Calendar, Instagram, Soundtrack Your Brand, Multizone, or Toast).
- Locate the theming controls in your presentation editor. From left to right, you’ll see:
- Edit current theme (disabled for Displai’s default themes)
- Theme manager (edit, duplicate, and delete your custom themes)
- Theme builder (+ icon)
- Click the + icon to open the Theme Builder.
- Choose from 15 fonts for each text type, or scroll down to upload custom fonts.
- Select colors for fonts, background, and borders using the color picker or by entering a hex code.
- Upload a custom background image if desired. Press the Background Image field and choose your image.
- Supported formats: GIF (animated and still), JPG, PNG, SVG, and BMP.
- Recommended: 1920x1080 resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) for best results.
- Click Done to apply the theme to your current presentation, or Add to List to save it for future use.
Upload custom fonts
Section titled “Upload custom fonts”- In the Theme Manager, scroll down to the Font(s) Uploader field.
- Select font files to upload. Supported formats: WOFF and TTF.
- Include hyphens in your filenames to distinguish font names from their weights (e.g.,
LuxuriousRoman-Regular.woffrather thanLuxuriousRomanRegular.woff). - Wait 1–2 minutes for the font to process before it appears in Theme Builder’s font selectors.
Supported font weights: bold, bolditalic, extra, extrabold, extrabolditalic, extraitalic, extralight, italic, light, medium, regular, semi, semibold, semibolditalic, semiitalic, thin, blackitalic, black, lightitalic, extralightitalic, mediumitalic, thinitalic
Manage your themes
Section titled “Manage your themes”- Click the theme manager icon (middle icon in the theming controls).
- Edit, duplicate, or delete any custom themes you’ve created.
- Displai’s default themes cannot be removed.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”- Your theme appears in the theme selector for all supported presentations.
- Custom fonts show up in the font selector within 1–2 minutes of upload.
- Your presentations display the correct fonts, colors, and background image.
If it doesn’t work
Section titled “If it doesn’t work”Custom fonts don’t appear after upload:
- Wait 1–2 minutes for processing.
- Verify your filename includes a hyphen between the font name and weight (e.g.,
FontName-Regular.woff). - Check that your file format is WOFF or TTF.
- If the issue persists, contact support.
Theme looks different on another presentation type:
- Not all apps use all theme features. For example, Flyers may not use “Heading 2 Text” while Menus use it for item names.
- Test your theme with each presentation type to confirm the appearance.
Need to delete an uploaded font:
- There is currently no way to delete fonts through the interface. Contact support if you need a font removed.
Background image appears pixelated or letterboxed:
- Use a high-resolution image with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Images with 1920x1080 resolution work best.
