Display PowerPoint or Keynote presentations on your screens

Export a PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides presentation as a PDF or video, then upload it to show it on your Displai screens.

KB-01476 steps Last verified

Use this guide when you want to display a PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides presentation on your Displai screens. This article covers two export methods: PDF (for static slides) and video (to preserve animations and transitions).

Choose the export format that matches your needs:

  • PDF export creates a smaller file that’s easier to upload, but does not preserve animations or transitions between slides
  • Video export creates a larger file but preserves all animations and transitions exactly as designed
  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides.
  2. Export to PDF using your application’s method:
    • Microsoft PowerPoint: Follow the application’s Save as PDF workflow
    • Apple Keynote: Use the Export function and select the PDF option
    • Google Slides: Click File > Download As > PDF Document (.pdf)
  3. Upload the PDF file to your Displai screen through the content management interface.
  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint or Keynote.
  2. Export to video using your application’s method:
    • Microsoft PowerPoint: Use the Save as Video workflow and select the MPEG-4 Video option (Displai does not support Windows Media .wmv files)
    • Apple Keynote: Use the Export function and select the QuickTime option
    • Google Slides: First download your presentation as a Microsoft PowerPoint file (File > Download As > Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)), then open it in PowerPoint or Keynote to complete the video export (Google Slides does not support direct video conversion)
  3. Upload the video file to your Displai screen through the content management interface.

After uploading your PDF or video file:

  • Navigate to your screen’s playlist or content schedule
  • Confirm the presentation appears in the content library
  • Preview the presentation to verify all slides display correctly
  • For video exports, confirm that animations and transitions play as expected

PDF displays but animations are missing: This is expected behavior for PDF exports. If you need animations, export your presentation as a video instead.

Video file upload fails or is rejected: Verify you exported as MPEG-4 (.mp4) or QuickTime (.mov). Windows Media (.wmv) files are not supported.

Google Slides video export is not available: Google Slides does not support direct video conversion. Download your presentation as a PowerPoint file first, then open it in PowerPoint or Keynote to export as video.

If your presentation still does not display correctly after following these steps, contact Displai support with your presentation file format and any error messages you received.
