Connect your ScreenRay to the internet
Connect your ScreenRay over Wi-Fi or Ethernet and set up the MAC, port and domain whitelisting your network may require.
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”ScreenRays connect via Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet. Use this article when setting up a new ScreenRay or troubleshooting connection issues. If your organization uses network access controls (MAC filtering, port restrictions, or domain firewalls), coordinate with your IT department before beginning setup.
-
Choose your connection method ScreenRays support any visible Wi-Fi network or wired connection via a supported USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Hidden Wi-Fi networks are not supported.
-
Whitelist the MAC address (if required) If your network uses MAC address filtering or a captive portal, find the Wi-Fi MAC address on the back label of your ScreenRay and provide it to your IT team for whitelisting.
-
Configure port access (if required) If your network restricts outbound ports, ask your IT team to whitelist these ports for the ScreenRay:
- 53 (UDP)
- 80 (TCP)
- 123 (UDP)
- 443 (TCP and UDP)
-
Configure domain access (if required) If your network uses a firewall with domain controls, ask your IT team to whitelist:
- 8.8.8.8 for DNS resolution (ScreenRay will use local DNS if 8.8.8.8 is blocked and DHCP advertises a local server)
- raydiant.com
- dash.raydiant.com
- s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com
- *.balena.io
- *.balena-cloud.com
- *.docker.com
- *.docker.io
- *.getmira.com
- *.pubnub.com
-
Connect to the network Follow the on-screen setup instructions on your TV to enter Wi-Fi credentials or connect your Ethernet adapter.
Verify
Section titled “Verify”Your ScreenRay is connected when the setup screen disappears and content begins displaying on your screen. You can also verify connection status in the Displai dashboard.
If it doesn’t work
Section titled “If it doesn’t work”Wi-Fi won’t connect:
- Confirm the device is within range of the Wi-Fi access point.
- Double-check that the network name and password are correct.
- If credentials have changed since initial setup, follow the on-screen instructions to re-enter them.
- Try connecting with a supported USB-to-Ethernet adapter instead.
Connection drops or fails after initial setup:
- Verify all required ports and domains are whitelisted with your IT team.
- Confirm the MAC address is whitelisted if your network uses MAC filtering.
If the ScreenRay still cannot connect after trying these steps, contact support for additional assistance.
