How can we help? 👋

Mapping Data from Tableau to Hoopla

Data & Metric Mapping

Our Tableau integration is brand new and we’d love to hear your feedback! Let us know what you think by contacting us at support@displai.ai.

Before mapping Tableau data into your EX metrics, you must authenticate your Tableau account in Hoopla. To do so, please see our Tableau Authentication help article. Once authenticated, you can start mapping in data from your Tableau Worksheets.

Worksheet format:

If you want to map in data from a worksheet in your Tableau account, at least one column must contain user emails (we need this to map column data to users). The email addresses must match User email addresses in Hoopla, in order to map the corresponding column data into Hoopla metrics.

Steps for Data Mapping:

1. Navigate to Configure>Integrations (in app.hoopla.net) and click into the Tableau tile.

2.  First, you’ll need to create sets of data from Tableau Worksheets. Within the Tableau integration page, click into the Create Data section.

3. Give your Data Set a name and then select a worksheet from our Tableau instance.

4. You can optionally filter your data by additional data points or click save.

5. Once saved, you can move on to the Metric Mapping Step.

Steps for Metric Mapping:

  1. Click into the Map Data>Metric Mapping Section.
  1. Click on the Map Metrics button to open up the Metric Mapping modal.
  1. Give your Metric Mapping a name, and select one of the data sets you have created.
  1. The next step is to tell Hoopla which columns you wish to map in (one for the users, and one for the data).
  1. First, select an aggregation type for your data column (tell us how we calculate the cells): sum the value, count the records, or average the value. If your data is already aggregated in the worksheet, just select “sum” or “average”.
  1. Next select the “Value Attribute” - this is the column we’ll be referencing to perform the calculation.
  1. Finally, select a “Group By” field - this should be your column containing the user email addresses.
  1. The last step is to select a sync interval and select or create a metric to map into.
  1. Click Save.
