Use the following steps to create surveys that can be displayed as a live Leaderboard within your Hoopla Channel.
Step 1: Create a Google Form Survey. To turn this into a leaderboard, you should only use one main question such as “Which holidays do you want next year?” or “Would you rather have a casual company social event or a fancy one?” If you would like to do multiple questions you can, they just would not be on the same leaderboard.
Step 2: Set up the response sheet. Click on the responses and “View in Sheets”.
Your responses will be in the sheet under the “Form Responses 1” tab:
Add a new tab and name it anything you would like.
Add the words “Team Name” to cell A1 of your new tab and list all of your survey options in column A. In Column B, give it a name and then use this formula to calculate the votes: =countifs('Form Responses 1'!C:C,A2). If your answers are in a different column on the form responses sheet than the formula, use that column instead of C:C.
Step 3: Set up Teams in Hoopla.
In the Hoopla software, navigate to the Teams area and create a Team for each response. The Team name should match EXACTLY with the name on the sheet.
ProTip: Give your team a photo so it is more interactive. You do not need any players as part of the team.
Step 4: Map in the Response Sheet. If you have not used the Hoopla Google Integration before, you can follow these articles: Connecting to Google Sheets Integration and Mapping in Data. Map in the column from the tab you created and make sure to save on the main Google Integration page.
Step 5: Setup your leaderboard. Go to the Leaderboards area and create a “Team Leaderboard”. Use the metric you mapped in from Google as the metric and add all of the teams. Save.
Step 6: Put the leaderboard in the channel in Bar Graph format. Add appropriate backgrounds and Save.
Step 7: Create a QR code for the survey. There are many sites that will allow you to create a QR code from a URL. Use the Send button on the form and then the link option to get the URL for your survey. Use the link for the QR code generator.
Step 8: Add the QR code to your channel or send it out via our messaging system. If adding it to the channel, you may want to add it to a slide or a program like Canva or PosterMyWall and then export to a JPG file in 16:9 digital display format.
