How can we help? 👋

Canva <> Displai

Display your Canva designs directly on your digital signage screens.

Displai makes it easy to showcase your Canva designs on your digital screens. This guide explains how the integration works, its limitations, and two methods for displaying your Canva content.

How It Works

Canva is a popular graphic design platform that allows you to create stunning visuals for presentations, social media, posters, and more. With Displai, you can display your Canva designs directly on your digital signage screens without needing to export and upload files manually.

There are two ways to display your Canva designs in Displai:

  1. Canva App – A direct integration available in your Displai content library
  1. Webpages App – Using the public URL of your Canva design

Method 1: Using the Canva App

Steps to using the Canva app

  1. Open your Displai dashboard
  1. Navigate to the Library section
  1. Click Add, Presentation and select the Canva app
  1. Sign in to your Canva account when prompted
  1. Browse and select the design you want to display
  1. Configure display settings (duration, page for jpg and png format, transitions, etc.)
  1. Add the content to your playlist or schedule

Benefits of the Canva app 👍

  • Direct access to your Canva designs without leaving Displai
  • Automatic syncing when you update your design in Canva
  • No need to manually copy URLs or export files

Method 2: Using the Public URL with Webpages App

If you prefer not to connect your Canva account or need more flexibility, you can use the public sharing URL of your Canva design with the Webpages app.

Get your Canva public URL

  1. Open your design in Canva
  1. Click the Share button in the top-right corner
  1. Select Create a public view link
  1. Copy the generated link

Add the URL in Displai

  1. Open your Displai dashboard
  1. Navigate to the Library section
  1. Click Add Content and select the Webpages app
  1. Paste your Canva public URL
  1. Important: Add &embed to the end of the URL

Example URL format:

https://www.canva.com/design/DAF_mvdsMqg/smsnwjUgZ4kso_KMWZL7RQ/view?utm_content=...&embed

  1. Configure display settings as needed
  1. Add the content to your playlist or schedule

⚠️ Note: The &embed parameter is required for the design to display correctly on your screens. Without it, the Canva interface elements may appear around your design.

Benefits of Using the Public URL

  • No account connection required
  • Works with designs shared by others
  • Useful for one-time or temporary content

Limitations

Please be aware of the following limitations when displaying Canva content on Displai:

General Limitations

  • Internet connection required – Both methods require an active internet connection on your display device to load Canva content
  • Loading time – Complex designs may take a few seconds to load, especially on slower connections
  • Canva account required – You need a Canva account to create and share designs

Canva App Limitations

  • Single-page designs – Multi-page designs may only display the first page (check your specific configuration)
  • Account permissions – You can only access designs from the connected Canva account
  • Session timeouts – You may need to re-authenticate periodically

API Rate Limiting (Free Canva Accounts)

If you're experiencing slow loading times or assets failing to load and you have a free Canva account, this is likely due to Canva's API rate limiting.

Solutions:

  • Upgrade to a Canva paid plan for higher API limits
  • Use the Public URL method with the Webpages app as an alternative
  • Reduce the complexity of your designs (fewer images/elements)

Public URL / Webpages App Limitations

  • Manual updates – Changes to your Canva design URL require manual updates in Displai
  • Public visibility – Your design must be set to public sharing, which means anyone with the link can view it
  • No animation support – Some Canva animations may not render correctly in the Webpages app
  • URL changes – If you regenerate the sharing link in Canva, you'll need to update it in Displai
